I've been a bit slow getting back into creative mode following our trip. My sketching buddy, Gill, and I have managed to get back into the weekly sketching though, but sadly were amazed at how rusty we'd got in such a short time! We spent some time on the harbour at Aghios Andreas, a nice little village nearby. The mountains across the bay had pretty much lost their snow when I did this sketch, but now, two days later, the snow is back! Where is our spring I wonder?
COLLAGE PROJECT- THEME 1- LETTERS & SIGNAGE
We also thought we needed a bit of a challenge and as we've both been interested in exploring collage for some time, we decided to set ourselves a weekly collage project. We'll work on a different subject each month and produce one A5 collage each week. Sounds simple with plenty of time to get a small one done..... Hmmm - we were both working frantically the day before we'd agreed to 'present' them, but we did get there .... in fact Gill managed 4!

From my point of view, it was a struggle! The subject for May is 'letters and signage' - perhaps a little tricky to start with. It took me ages to get into the swing of things - worse because I'd left it so late, but the longer I worked, the more ideas that popped into my mind. I suspect collage is something one grows into, so I need a lot more practice to grow! We've decided to move into A4 for next week as we both found A5 just a little restrictive. Below is my finished work. which I'm reasonably happy, and would like to eventually come up with a series of similar Greek inspired ones.
